FOCUS CONSTRUCT is a highly experienced Queensland company

servicing the commercial, retail, hospitality, clubs/pubs and fitout industries.

Our hardwork has been recognised with 18 Industry awards, including

6 Master Builders Awards and 8 Australian Institute of Building Awards (both state and national).

The company was formed in 2006, by two brothers, Paul and Mark Glover

and was called Focus Commercial Interiors.

The company focused on internal linings, joinery and carpentry. In 2012,

and due to continued success, the brothers changed the name to Focus Fitout Specialists.

Mark and Paul had expanded the business to offer their clients a complete

fitout experience and a new name was required to reflect this business evolution.

As part of the next growth phase, Todd Dunlop was brought in as Managing Director

and 100% shareholder in 2021. Todd brings 20-plus years of experience, delivering projects for Tier 1 and Tier 2 builders in Brisbane, Melbourne and internationally. Todd also holds his open builder’s license, which allowed the company to expand its offerings to our clients.

Focus Construct is now able to offer our clients a complete building experience from new build construction, fitouts and refurbishments.

As part of this recent evolution came the name change and rebrand to FOCUS CONSTRUCT.

OUR EXPERTISE

We focus on specializing in five key areas of the construction process,

and make sure we deliver them really well.

Focus’ has an in-house Quantity Surveyor that can assist our clients with pre-construction budgeting and cost management. We are also experienced at building to a budget and sticking to this budget. Our strong experience, market knowledge, supply change relationships and innovative construction techniques are uniquely placed to develop a solid cost-plan that will be achieved and delivering the highest quality.

Experience

we know what it takes to deliver a project on time, on budget, to the high-quality and safety standards. It comes from many years of experience in a multiple markets. Our teams follows key principals of rigorous project reviews that includes programming, design management, risk identification and control metrics, quality control processes, cost planning and highest focus on safety. Our director is hands on and has oversight on all projects.

At Focus we know that once a project achieves practical completion, doesn’t mean the project is over. We are meticulous in our handover manuals and processes to ensure our clients are comfortable with their new building. Often this involves training sessions, fine tuning of services and simply answering questions. In addition, we aim to complete our defects before handover to ensure we minimize disruption to our clients operations.

Todd Dunlop

Managing Director

Todd is the Managing Director and Owner of Focus Construct, with more than 20 years experience in the construction, fitout and property development industry.Todd is a chartered professional builder (MAIB), holds an Executive MBA, a Degree in Construction Management (1st Class Honours), Cert IV in OHS (Safety), Diploma of Building.

Ben Topham

Client Services Director

As Director of Client Services, Ben leads the strategic client engagement, business development, and pre-contract activities to secure new opportunities and ensure seamless project transitions. He collaborates with the broader Focus Construct Team to identify market opportunities, foster client partnerships, oversee tender processes, and contribute to the company's growth. He is a proactive leader with deep industry knowledge who aligns client needs with Focus Construct's capabilities, which leads to project delivery excellence and delighted clients.

Hendrick Boshoff

Senior Estimator

Hendrik is our estimator with more than two decades of experience pricing small fitout projects all the way to $300m mixed-use developments.

His new build experience includes schools, high-rise office buildings, government, industrial, airport buildings, retail and the like. Hendrik’s keen eye for detail and building strong relationships across the board ensures that Focus are obtaining the best price and value available for our clients.

Simon England

Commercial and contracts manager

Simon is an experienced Commercial and Contract Manager, with over 25 years working for Tier 1 and 2 builders in Australia and the UK. Todd and Simon worked with each other at John Holland building the $800m Enoggera Army Barracks project in 2011. In 2024, Simon joined Focus Construct and heads up our Commercial and Contracts team.

Stephen Cannon

Project Manager

Steve is our Project Manager and has several years of experience in the new build, fit out, and engineering construction field. Steve is a great team player and holds a Bachelor of Urban Development (Construction Management) from QUT .

Harry Taylor

Contract Administrator

Harry is our Contract Administrator and Project Engineer. He has 5 years of experience within the industry starting off in 2019 as a cadet at Pradella

Harrison Mueller

Site Manager

Harrison is a qualified carpenter with his QBCC Site Supervisor licence. He is currently completing his Bachelor's Degree of Construction Management. Harrison has a key eye for detail and excels at leading a site team.

Ryan Mcleod

Site Manager

Ryan McLeod is an experienced Site Manager with a strong background delivering commercial construction projects across Queensland. Having worked with a Tier 1 builder, he brings a disciplined, systems-driven approach to site management, with a strong focus on safety, programme control and quality outcomes. Ryan is known for his calm leadership, clear communication and ability to drive projects through to completion efficiently and to a high standard.

Noodle

Chief Morale Office

Noddle the Bernedoodle (Bernese Mountain dog x poodle) - Her core competencies include treat negotiation, site walk inspections (primarily for dropped snacks), and maintaining strict work-life balance standards. While she has no formal construction qualifications, however her leadership in positivity, loyalty and team spirit is unmatched.
